Alan Douglas Edward Cameron, FBA (13 March 1938 – 31 July 2017) was a British classicist and academic. He was Charles Anthon Professor Emeritus of the Latin Language and Literature at Columbia University, New York.

Alan Cameron, a prolific and widely respected scholar of classical literature and ancient history, died at the age of 79 in 2017. He had been diagnosed with ALS, a disease that he endured with characteristic good humor, even as it consumed him far more quickly than he had been led to expect.
The classicist and historian Alan Cameron (1938-2017) was, among other achievements, one of the scholars who most contributed to the refoundation of late-antique studies.
