Synopsis. Aging lawman Steve Judd (Joel McCrea) takes a job transporting gold from the Sierra Nevada mining town of Coarsegold, and hires old pal Gil Westrum (Randolph Scott) not knowing that Westrum and his callow sidekick Heck Longtree (Ron Starr) intend to abscond with the paydirt.
