St. John's College, the 3rd oldest college in the U.S., was founded in 1696. The distinctive Liberal Arts program of reading & discussing the Great Books began in 1937 and continues today.
JOHN COLLEGE. ST. JOHN COLLEGE began as Sisters' College in 1928 to train teachers to staff the elementary schools of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, and later expanded its mission to preparing nurses for Catholic hospitals. It was one of the few diocesan colleges in the U.S.
