The University of Aberdeen (abbreviated Aberd. in post-nominals; Scottish Gaelic: Oilthigh Obar Dheathain) is a public research university in Aberdeen, Scotland.

As the fifth oldest University in the UK, the University of Aberdeen combines ancient tradition with the best in modern teaching and learning facilities. It has a student population of over 14,000 and a large international community drawn from more than 120 different countries.
The University of Aberdeen is Scotland’s third oldest university, and the UK’s fifth. It was formed in the merging of two colleges, King’s and Marischal, in 1860.
