Eskew Reeder, Jr. (November 20, 1935 or 1938 – October 23, 1986), usually known by the stage name Esquerita (/ ˈ ɛ s k ə r i t ə /), and occasionally as S.Q. Reeder or The Magnificent Malochi, was an American R&B singer, songwriter and pianist, known for his frenetic performances.

Esquerita died of complications arising from AIDS in 1986 in Harlem Hospital, New York City. My own introduction to Esquerita was in May 1966, when Cees Klop played "Rockin' the Joint" for me. I was sold right away.
