Elizabeth Glaser ( née Meyer; November 11, 1947 – December 3, 1994) was an American AIDS activist and child advocate married to actor and director Paul Michael Glaser. She contracted HIV very early in the AIDS epidemic after receiving an HIV-contaminated blood transfusion in 1981 while giving birth.

About. Elizabeth’s Story. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was born from the most powerful force of all: a mother’s love for her children. Elizabeth Glaser contracted HIV in a blood transfusion in 1981 while giving birth to her daughter, Ariel.
Elizabeth Glaser was one of the first public figures to advocate for research focused on the prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS in children. EGPAF has continued to bring together top international scientists to conduct basic, clinical, and operations research as part of our efforts to end AIDS in children, youth, and families.
In Brief. Elizabeth Glaser’s fight to save her HIV-positive children led to her creation of the Pediatric AIDS Foundation to save children worldwide from the devastation of AIDS. Glaser became infected with HIV in 1981 due to a blood transfusion and passed the disease to her children.
