Life and career. Her film debut as an actress was in the Paul Verhoeven film Turkish Delight in 1973. This film was an immediate breakthrough for her acting career. It was nominated for an Academy Award and was chosen as the best Dutch film of the century. Thirteen years later she starred in the Oscar -winning film The Assault .

Monique van de Ven. Artist Statement. I’m a mixed media artist mainly working with clay. My father is a collector of strange, witty yet cute objects coming from the past. Because I was always surrounded by these strange objects, I developped a fascination for cute, sometimes kitschy animals in all forms and shapes.
