Addlestone (/ ˈ æ d əl s t ən / or / æ d əl s t oʊ n /) is a town in Surrey, England. It is located approximately 18 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (30 kilometres) southwest of London. The town is the administrative centre of the Borough of Runnymede, of which it is the largest settlement.
Addlestone began life as a quiet agricultural hamlet which served the needs of Chertsey Abbey. Until the late 17th or early 18th centuries much of the present centre of Addlestone was a ‘heathy common’ known as Addlestone Common or Marlheath.
