Through his teaching, writing, and mysticism, Bonaventure captured the spirit of Saint Francis and renewed the order accordingly.
14 de jul. de 2023 · Born in Bagnoregio (about 65 to 70 miles north of Rome), St. Bonaventure was originally named Giovanni di Fidanza. The year of his birth is not known for certain. Some think he was born in 1217, others think it was in 1221. In either case, as a young boy, he became very sick.

Life. He was born at Civita di Bagnoregio, not far from Viterbo, then part of the Papal States. Almost nothing is known of his childhood, other than the names of his parents, Giovanni di Fidanza and Maria di Ritella.
