Newnham College is one of the colleges of the University of Cambridge, England. It is for women only and has about 500 students. It was created in 1871 by Henry Sidgwick who wanted to make education more available to women. It was built at a time when most colleges where for men only.

Newnham continues to be a women's college dedicated to the charitable purposes of education, learning and research. For the most part, Newnham’s paintings represent donations and bequests made by alumnae and benefactors although portrait commissions are undertaken by the College from time to time.
Bletchley Park Exhibition. A new exhibition tells the incredible story of Newnham College women’s war work, at Bletchley Park and beyond. More than 70 students and alumnae were secretly recruited for World War Two codebreaking work at Bletchley Park, thanks partly to the personal connections of three Newnham women: Alda Milner-Barry, former Principal Pernel Strachey and Ray Strachey.
