It topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart in 2016, the band's fourth single to do so at the time. The song is about Taylor meeting the devil at a crossroads to sell her soul in exchange for talent.

The performance video was shot in black and white with subtle glimpses of blood red in the background. It was directed by Meiert Avis, who has also helmed visuals for artists such as Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, U2 and Avril Lavigne. The clip was shot at Water Music Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the Who Are You Selling For album was recorded.
