In the beginning, the band's sound was a mixture of pop rock and soul music. Their first album, 'Sooner or Later'. was released in 2000 and sold over one million copies.

After recording a demo, BBMak camped outside the headquarters of major labels and performed on the street. A few gigs later, BBMak was the focus of a bidding war and the group soon secured a deal.
