He serves as the lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and principal songwriter of the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, which he founded in 1988 and of which he was the sole official member until 2016.
This post-industrial band was formed in 2009 by Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, together with Reznor’s wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and Rob Sheridan. Their debut was with a self-titled EP, released a year after their inception and made available as a free download. This helped to quickly spread their music.
