Eckart Witzigmann wurde 2007 von der schwedischen staatlichen Gastronomie-Universität „Örebro“ zum Professor und Doktor ehrenhalber ernannt. Er führt dort den Titel eines Gastronomie-Professors. Von 2007 bis 2010 übernahm Eckhard Witzigmann die Präsidentschaft der „Deutschen Akademie für Kulinaristik“.
