23 de may. de 2022 · Malevolent Dark is finally getting around to reviewing The House By The Cemetery (1981) from Lucio Fulci’s “Gates of Hell” trilogy. For this one, the link between The Beyond (1981) and City of the Living Dead (1980) is tenuous at best. The House By The Cemetery strays farther from the plot devices of the other films and any connection to the trilogy seems to have been an after-thought.
3 de sept. de 2021 · The House by the Cemetery is Fulci in more restrained form. The plot is (almost) straightforward, despite a heaping helping of distractions and red herrings. The pace is also more sedate and allows for a buildup of tension that climaxes in an intense confrontation with the malignant force within the house.
The third and final instalment in his “Gates of Hell” trilogy, 1981’s The House by the Cemetery showcases the malevolent maestro at his blood-drenched best. The Boyles - Lucy (Catriona MacColl, The Beyond), Norman (Paolo Malco, The New York Ripper) and their young son Bob (Giovanni Frezza, Demons) - relocate from New York City to an ageing house in rural New England.
