    Friedrich Kuhlau, Friedrich Daniel Rudolph Kuhlau, 11.9.1786-12.3.1832, dansk komponist, sammen med C.E.F. Weyse den vigtigste repræsentant for den tidlige romantik i dansk musik. Friedrich Kuhlau blev født i Uelzen i en slægt af regimentsmusikere, og familien flyttede ca. 1802 til Hamburg, hvor han gav koncerter som pianist, udgav sine første værker og fik lidt musikundervisning.
