About Käbi Laretei Käbi Alma Laretei (14. VII 1922 – 31. X 2014, Stockholm) was a pianist and prose writer of Estonian origin who lived in Sweden and wrote in Swedish, but concentrated greatly on her Estonian roots in her writing. She was born in Tartu into the family of the diplomat Heinrich Laretei.

17 de nov. de 2023 · Käbi Laretei alustas klaveriõpinguid 1936. aastal õpetaja Aino Kõrbi juures Tallinna Konservatooriumis. Pärast Eesti okupeerimist 1940. aastal jäi Käbi koos vanemate ja õega eksiili Rootsi, kus ta isa oli sel ajal Eesti Vabariigi suursaadik.

Aastatel 1959–1967 oli ta abielus filmi- ja teatrilavastaja Ingmar Bergmaniga, sellest abielust sündis poeg Daniel. Käbi Laretei jäi Bergmanile kuni tema elu lõpuni südamesõbraks ja lähedaseks mõttekaaslaseks.
