Verification statistics for the World Area Forecast Centre (WAFC) London data sets are produced by the Met Office for a range of different regions. Most regions correspond to those defined by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Commission for Basic Systems (CBS) to allow comparisons to be made between different modelling centres.

30 de ene. de 2012 · The two World Area Forecast Centres (WAFC) are responsible for providing aviation hazard forecasts above 800 hPa (6000 ft) including clear air turbulence (CAT) to aviation customers around the world. A new automated gridded forecast for CAT is now being produced by the two WAFCs along with the traditional forecaster-produced Significant Weather (SIGWX) charts.
Next generation WAFS SIGWX forecasts will be broadly consistent with today’s WAFS SIGWX forecasts today however they will not be split into “high-level” (FL250 to FL630) and “medium-level” (FL100 to FL450) data sets as much of the data is simply duplicated. Next generation SIGWX will have a vertical range from FL100 to FL600.
