7 de dic. de 2006 · THE MARBLE INDEX is a scary, deeply unsettling record, with Nico's low-affect voice and those twisted John Cale semi-classical arrangements. It's also a work of tremendous power and artistic achievement, absolutely on a par with her Velvet Underground work. Not a cheerful listen, but beyond essential.
Nico makes everything more depressing, darker and more beautiful. Marble Index is squeaking, strings, harmonium, flute, filled with echoes and haunting landscapes. all wrapped tightly around Nico, wrapping her germanic yet ethereal voice in layers upon layers of musical tapestry.
