Larkin signed with the promotion in 2017 after a lengthy run in the UFC, and his first fight for Bellator was for the welterweight title – something that was deemed deserving given he had wins in four of his final five UFC fights, including victories over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal.
I am gutted. A lot of the fighters that went to bellator made sense to me, like mitrone, benson, davis etc. Those guys had peaked in the UFC and wanted to maximize their money. Rory was still a contender but coming off of a 2 fight skid he had a long road back to the title. LL is the first fighter that I think the UFC REALLY screwed up letting go.

Larkin (16-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) was able to utilize his considerable speed advantage to pop Ponzinibbio (20-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) with punches and crisp leg kicks.
