Now, he looked to find his Powhatan relatives and establish family connections. In 1641, Thomas petitioned the Governor for permission to meet with his mother's people.

Rolfe returned to Virginia, married his third wife in 1619, and died in 1622, probably in the Indian Massacre of 1622 which started the Second Powhatan War.
