Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours (o; francés: [dypɔ̃]; 14 de diciembre de 1739 - 7 de agosto de 1817) fue un escritor, economista, editor y funcionario del gobierno franco-estadounidense.Durante la Revolución Francesa, él, sus dos hijos y sus familias emigraron a los Estados Unidos. Pierre Samuel du Pont was a member of the family that established the Du Pont Company in Wilmington, Delaware. The company became a world leader in the explosives industry. In 1919, du Pont resigned as president of the family business. He began devoting much of his time to improving education. He even served on the State Board of Education.
Pierre Samuel "Pete" du Pont IV (January 22, 1935 – May 8, 2021) was an American attorney, businessman, and politician who served as the 68th governor of Delaware from 1977 to 1985. A member of the Republican Party , he was the United States representative for Delaware's at-large congressional district from 1971 to 1977.
