“Ride Lonesome” is a Western so tightly plotted, it feels like it could just about burst out of a packed pistol with even the gentlest of trigger pulls. Clocking in at an enviably tidy one hour and thirteen minutes, “Lonesome” is so efficient - it’s a work that could only be made by masters of its genre. And it was.

Ride Lonesome is a star-studded western filled with drama and action. Ben Brigade (Randolph Scott, The Tall T) is a stern-talking bounty hunter with a big gun. He is assigned to bring in the impetuous Billy (James Best, TV’s “The Dukes of Hazzard”), but knows that wild Comanche tribesmen and Billy’s brother, Frank (Lee Van Cleef, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly), are on his tail.
