Profile: English band formed in 1983 in Woking, England by Paul Weller, the former singer, songwriter, and guitarist with the punk rock/new wave/mod revival band The Jam, and keyboardist Mick Talbot. Disbanded in March 1990. The band appears with additional artists as The Council Collective.

Gli Style Council debuttano, nel 1983, con il mini-LP intitolato Introducing The Style Council, contenente anche i singoli Speak Like a Child, Long Hot Summer e Money-Go-Round.Il primo album vero e proprio del gruppo, Café Bleu, verrà pubblicato nel 1984, riscuotendo subito un buon successo di pubblico e di critica.Il brano più famoso del disco è senza dubbio il singolo You're the Best Thing.
