BACKGROUND. Hall was born in 1926 in French Polynesia and in his mid teens began attending boarding school in California.
Primeros pasos en la Dirección de Fotografía. Tras graduarse, Conrad Hall fundó Canyon Films junto a otros dos compañeros de clase. En 1956, tras algunos años filmando publicidades, documentales y algunas tomas sueltas, Canyon Films adquiere el cortometraje My Brother Down There, en el que Hall fue el camarógrafo encargado de filmar toda la película.

Conrad L. Hall. Cinematographer: Road to Perdition. Born in Tahiti, the son of writer James Norman Hall, author of "Mutiny on the Bounty," Conrad Hall studied filmmaking at USC. He and two classmates formed a production company and sold a project to a local television station. Hall's company branched out into making industrial films and TV commercials.
