Was Eric Balfour in on it? His interview on the show is very interesting. He seems like a cool enough guy to make fun of himself and be apart of the bit. But he also seems like the kind of guy who could be lacking self-awareness, and truly annoyed by the bit.

My guess is that the "game with the stick" that Eric refers to later in the interview is simply Eric (Balfour) being told to press his head against a stick and spin around like in a dizzy bat race, and then walk onto the set once he's called.
