The list is composed mostly of arenas that house sports teams (basketball, ice hockey, arena soccer and arena football) and serve as indoor venues for concerts and expositions.

[1] Between 1971–1975 and in 2000, only one team was selected per year. In 1969–1970, 1976 and 1987, two teams were selected per year.
