Hace 2 días · In 1716 he was made vice-admiral and on several occasions was in command of a fleet, notably in 1727–8 when he blockaded Cadiz. In 1731 he was promoted to be admiral. Two years later he was made a privy councillor and first lord of the admiralty, (fn. n90) a position which he held until 1742. He died in 1743.

Hace 4 días · In 1612 Lord Knyvett conveyed his interest in the manor to Thomas Howard, earl of Suffolk, and his son Theophilus and in 1625 the manor was granted in fee by the Crown to Sir Edward Howard, later Baron Howard of Escrick.
Hace 3 días · John Moubray, who married the heiress of Segrave as above-mentioned, succeeded his father as Lord Moubray, and died seised of Bretby castle, &c. in 1400; his coheiresses married Berkeley and Howard, whose descendants, the Earls of Berkeley, and the Dukes of Norfolk, have borne among their other titles, those of Baron Segrave and Moubray.

Concurrently, he was Lord of Ireland, and from 1254 to 1306 he ruled Gascony as Duke of Aquitaine in his capacity as a vassal of the French king.Before his accession to the throne, he was commonly referred to as the Lord Edward.
