François Jacob (Nancy, 17 de junio de 1920–París, 19 de abril de 2013) [1] fue un biólogo y médico francés, galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Fisiología o Medicina en 1965, [2] el cual compartió con André M. Lwoff y Jacques L. Monod, por sus descubrimientos sobre el control genético de la síntesis de enzimas y la síntesis de virus.
François Jacob (Nancy, 1920 - París, 2013) Biólogo francés. Fue estudiante de medicina en París hasta que, en 1940, la Segunda Guerra Mundial interrumpió sus estudios y le obligó a refugiarse en Inglaterra, donde se enroló en el Ejército de Liberación francés.

In 1963, together with Sydney Brenner, François Jacob put forward the «replicon» hypothesis to account for certain aspects of cell division in bacteria. Since then, he has devoted his attention to the genetic analysis of the mechanisms of cell division.
François Jacob (17 June 1920 – 19 April 2013) was a French biologist who, together with Jacques Monod, originated the idea that control of enzyme levels in all cells occurs through regulation of transcription. He shared the 1965 Nobel Prize in Medicine with Jacques Monod and André Lwoff.
