Both have been owned by me since purchased new at the time of release in 1977 and 1978 and have been well looked after.
Entomologist here, looks like it was some kind of a moth. The wings are translucent looking because they got wet and the scales look to have fallen off. The tail looking thing is actually a proboscis for gettin all that sweet sweet nectar out of flowers. You can see its beady little moth eyes at the base of the tail (proboscis)
