Hace 5 días · Fitzwilliam House is the title both of the body of graduates and undergraduates long known as 'NonCollegiate', and of the building in Trumpington Street which has been their headquarters since 1874. The society was founded as a result of suggestions made by the university commissioners of 1850.

They were governed by a board elected by the Senate and in 1892 this house was reconditioned and made over entirely to them for their headquarters; it had previously, since 1874, been occupied only in part by 'Fitzwilliam Hall'.

  7. Hace 5 días · In 1965 the college owned 300 a. of farmland, chalk pits (10 a.), allotments (15 a.), and Cherry Hinton School's freehold. Thereafter it sold most of its remaining land piecemeal including 10 a. of allotments in 1983. In 1998 it retained the chalk pits, 5 a. of allotments, 15 a. used for science parks, and the school's freehold.
