7 de oct. de 2010 · Lady Margaret Hall is a pioneering Oxford University college. In October 1879 nine women arrived at LMH and became the first to receive an Oxford education. We admitted men in 1979 and, in 2016, became the first Oxbridge college to establish a Foundation Year for under-represented students.
Changing Lives since 1879. LMH began with nine women and is now a vibrant academic community transforming the lives of hundreds of students. We are diverse, open, intellectually curious and pioneering.
Room types. In a typical year there are around 390 single study bedrooms available for undergraduates, just over 180 of which are en-suite. These are located in a range of different buildings from some of the first at LMH, built at the turn of the 20th century, to the more recent Pipe Partridge buildings opened in 2010.
In 1878 LMH was founded and changed Oxford University for ever. It opened up Oxford to women for the first time. They were pioneers and broke boundaries, going on to lead remarkable lives, such as founding Save The Children and becoming the first female President of the British Medical Association.
Our tutors are experienced teachers as well as being leaders in their research fields, whether it is quantum physics, Muslim Spain, torture and confessions in literature or the status of refugees. They help shape a dynamic community that prides itself on educational and academic excellence.

Medicine at LMH. LMH takes 6 pre-clinical medical students each academic year. Together with clinical students and those doing post-graduate biomedical research, this forms a good-sized group in the College. Their offices are on the middle floor of the library. The library holds more than 75,000 books, supporting the full range of academic endeavours of the college, from undergraduate core textbooks to books not found elsewhere in Oxford.
