George Korngold (December 17, 1928 – November 25, 1987) was a prominent Austrian-born American record producer as well as a music editor and producer active within the film industry. He was the younger son of Austrian composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Korngold was born in Vienna, Austria in 1928.
Before the opprobrium of Korngold’s enforced refuge in Hollywood, he was arguably one of new music’s bravest voices. In the noisy world of musical Modernism that emerged after the First World War, Korngold pursued neither anti-diatonic elitism, nor the abandonment of serious music altogether in order to compose his best loved works.
