Encyclopedia Masonica. The Royal Masonic Institution for Boys is a charity of the Freemasons of England. It was founded in the year 1798 by a number of Brethren belonging to the Ancient Constitution who were members of the Lodge of United Mariners, No. 23, now No. 30.
The Institution offered support to boys in this form throughout its existence but in 1857, the Institution also opened its own School for the sons of indigent freemasons.
