I first heard Lew Tabackin play on an album called Introducing Duke Pearson’s Big Band, released in 1967. Lew Tabackin sounds as vivacious as ever on his latest album, the listener in the palm of his hand from the opening notes. The album, a trio date with bassist Boris Kozlov and drummer Mark Taylor, was recorded predominantly at Steve Maxwell"s midtown Manhattan drum shop (one cut was done in Tabackin"s basement).
