Bruce Lambourne Fowler (born July 10, 1947) is an American trombonist and composer. He played trombone on many Frank Zappa records, as well as with Captain Beefheart and in the Fowler Brothers Band.
Herman's recorded output was also full of ground-breaking recordings, such as those featuring the saxophone section known as the Four Brothers, which included, among others, legendary names like Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, Serge Chaloff, and Herbie Steward.
Despite his indelible influence on music today, jam band fans are rarely able to identify some of the lesser known side musicians of his ensemble, as is often the case with Zappa’s trombonist, Bruce Fowler.

He plays often with the jazz ensembles, The Two Bass Band [Billy Mintz] and The Vinny Golia Large Ensemble. Bruce is featured in the movie “Short Cuts” as the trombonist in Annie Ross’ band and is prominent on the soundtrack album.
