The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (CSSD) is a drama school founded by Elsie Fogerty in 1906, as The Central School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, to offer a new form of training in speech and drama for young actors and other students.
Central is a leading drama school that offers degrees and courses in theatre and performing arts. It has a dynamic community of students, staff, alumni and partners, and a history of producing renowned theatre practitioners and performers.
Ha recibido grados honorarios de la Escuela de Diseño de Rhode Island, Ringling College para el Arte y el Diseño, la Open University y la Central School of Speech and Drama, Universidad de la ciudad de Birmingham y el Instituto de Liverpool de Artes Interpretativas.
Después de graduarse en Eton en 1951 estudió durante tres años en la renombrada Central School of Speech and Drama en Londres. De 1954 a 1955 dio sus primeros pasos profesionales en la compañía del Library Theatre, con sede en los bajos de la Biblioteca de Mánchester.
