A leading figure in Chicago jazz, he also played piano and sang. He also owned a self-named night club in New York City .
In 1936 Condon was part of the first swing music concert in a legitimate theater, New York’s Imperial, and in 1938 was part of the first transatlantic radio broadcast for the BBC. The legendary Edward R. Murrow was at the other end of the broadcast in London.

Eddie Condon (1905-1973) was a jazz guitarist, bandleader, promoter, club owner, and writer active from the early 1920s to 1972. Born in Indiana and raised near Chicago, Condon was a professional musician by his mid-teens, beginning on ukulele and banjo before permanently switching to guitar.

15 de oct. de 2018 · In 1929, after organizing some other recording sessions, Condon switched cities and instruments. He moved to New York, and began playing the guitar. In New York, he worked with Red McKenzie's Mound City Blue Blowers and with Red Nichol's and His Five Pennies.
