Clyde Julian “Red” Foley contributed greatly to the rise of the country music industry following World War II. Emerging as a star in Chicago, he later played major roles in the expansion of Nashville and Springfield, Missouri as country music centers.
Country performer. Born June 17, 1910. Died September 19, 1968. Real name: Clyde Julian Foley. Career active 1930s-late 1960s. Came to prominence on the WLS National Barn Dance. Later headlined the Grand Ole Opry (1946-1953) and the Ozark Jubilee (1950s).
