The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, often referred to as CESJDS or JDS, is a private, pluralistic Jewish JK-12 school located in two campuses in North Bethesda (Rockville postal address), Maryland, United States. Founded in 1966, the school's namesake is Charles E. Smith, a local Jewish philanthropist and real estate magnate.

We are the one of the largest independent Jewish day schools in North America, located in Rockville, Maryland. Our two expansive campuses are just 10 miles from the Nation’s Capital, and we take advantage of Washington, D.C. as an extension of our classroom.
The idea of offering a powerfully integrated education for a wide range of Jewish children from diverse backgrounds, that would help them view the world holistically through Jewish lenses, became a reality. In fall of 1998, the school opened at its Temple Israel site, then at Noe Bixby Road.
