12 de jul. de 2023 · Goldy McJohn might be Steppenwolf's most famous keyboard player, but he wasn't the only one: John Kay perhaps unsurprisingly fired McJohn at one point, bringing on Andy Chapin for "Hour of the Wolf." It was released in 1975 before one of the band's many break-ups, and Chapin went on to become a member of Ricky Nelson's band.
1974: After a successful farewell tour of Europe, Steppenwolf is reborn, this time with Kay, Edmonton, McJohn, Biondo and new guitarist Bobby Cochran. In the ensuing period, McJohn departs, replaced by Andy Chapin (who later died in the Rick Nelson plane crash). Chapin is replaced by Wayne Cook.

After leaving the band, Chapin joined Ricky Nelson’s band, but fate had a cruel twist in store. In a New Year’s Eve plane crash in 1985, six lives, including Chapin’s, were tragically lost.
