Macalla is a 1985 musical album by the Irish folk group Clannad. It is their ninth album and is known for the duet between Clannad's singer Moya Brennan and U2 vocalist Bono on the single "In a Lifetime". An alternate version of the album's first track, "Caisleán Óir", was used throughout the third Robin of Sherwood series.
Macalla came out at the height of Clannad's commercial success - hence Bono's appearance here on the duet In a Lifetime. That song is, to be honest, a bit of a clunker, Bono's vocal approach not really suiting the more ethereal atmosphere of Clannad's music, but the rest of the album is a decent bridge between the pop world and the Celtic New Age material they had become known for.

The song starts with Máire Brennan being heard teaching Bono Gaelic during the instrumental intro to the song. The initial single reached #17 in the UK singles chart, and thus it remains one of Clannad’s most successful songs. A video was filmed for the song, and it was filmed by Meiert Avis, who had worked on most of U2’s early videos.
