The Pale Fountains were an English band formed in Liverpool in 1980, and composed of Mick Head (vocalist/guitarist), Chris McCaffery (bassist), Thomas Whelan (drummer), trumpet player Andy Diagram and Ken Moss (guitarist).
Formed 1981 in Liverpool, UK, around songwriter Michael Head. Issued debut single on Les Disques du Crepuscule, then signed to Virgin at the end of 1982. Had one minor hit the following year, reaching No. 48 in the UK charts with Thank You. Recorded two studio albums for Virgin.
The Pale Fountains. Head first gained attention as a member of the Pale Fountains in the early 1980s with his best friend Chris "Biffa" McCaffrey. The band suffered from critical and commercial apathy, and the band split around 1987. Shortly afterwards, McCaffrey died from a brain tumour.
