  1. Gregory Errol Chamitoff (born 6 August 1962) is a Canadian-born American engineer and former NASA astronaut. He has been to space twice, spending 6 months aboard the ISS across Expedition 17 and 18 in 2008, and another 15 days as part of STS-134 in 2011.

  5. Chamitoff joined Mission Operations at the Johnson Space Center in 1995 and was selected as an astronaut candidate in 1998. In 2002, he was a member of the NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations crew, where he studied and lived on the Aquarius undersea research habitat for nine days.

  6. He holds a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr Chamitoff has published numerous papers on aircraft and spacecraft guidance and control, trajectory optimisation and Mars mission design. Dr Chamitoff has logged over 183 days in space serving as Expedition 17–18 flight engineer and science officer.
