Harold Dennis "Dickie" Bird, OBE (born 19 April 1933), is an English former cricketer and retired international cricket umpire. During his long umpiring career, he became a much-loved figure among players and viewing public, due to his excellence as an umpire, but also his many eccentricities.
Dickie Bird was a renowned cricket umpire and a former Yorkshire and Leicestershire batsman. He officiated in 66 Tests and 69 ODIs, and was awarded the MBE for his services to the game.
