Colby Don Carthel (born August 29, 1976) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, a position he has held since December 2018.
Bio. Colby Carthel begins his fifth season as the Lumberjacks head coach and is coming off a 2022 campaign where the Jacks captured the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Champion- ship. This season he will lead the Lumberjacks in the inaugural United Athletic Conference (UAC) after spending the past three seasons in the WAC.

The deal keeps him in Nacogdoches, Texas, through 2027. Financial terms were not disclosed, but his salary will remain as scheduled until 2024.
