Franz Doppler was a prominent composer and flutist of the Romantic era, born on October 16, 1821, in Lemberg, which is now known as Lviv in Ukraine. He was the son of Joseph Doppler, a composer and oboist. Franz made his debut as a flutist when he was just 13 years old and soon established himself as a gifted performer.
