Féral Benga, 1937, by Carl Van Vechten. François "Féral" Benga (8 July 1906 – 13 September 1957) was a Senegalese dancer and became a sought after model of the Harlem Renaissance, his portraits and sculptures taken by Carl Van Vechten, Richmond Barthé and George Platt Lynes among others.

François Benga, dit Féral Benga, né le 8 juillet 1906 à Dakar ( Sénégal ), mort le 13 septembre 1957 à Paris 14e 1, est un danseur et chorégraphe sénégalais installé en France, devenu un modèle recherché du mouvement Harlem Renaissance, notamment par le sculpteur Richmond Barthé et par les photographes Carl Van Vechten et George Platt Lynes .

Né au Sénégal, Feral Benga fut l'une des grandes figures de la danse et des cultures noires dans le Paris des années 1930. Il a 17 ans quand il arrive en France. Il débute avec Joséphine Baker dans « La folie du jour ». Les danses exotiques sont alors à la mode. Très vite, sa carrière au music-hall est lancée.
