Paul Edward Patton (born May 26, 1937) is an American politician who served as the 59th governor of Kentucky from 1995 to 2003. Because of a 1992 amendment to the Kentucky Constitution, he was the first governor eligible to run for a second term in office, since James Garrard, in 1800.

Governor Paul E. Patton The fifty-fifth governor of the commonwealth was born on May 26, 1937, in the small Lawrence County community of Fallsburg. The son of Ward and Irene Borders Patton, he graduated in 1955 from Louisa High School. Four years later he was awarded a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
