Negus Mikael of Wollo (born Mohammed Ali, 1850 – 8 September 1918), was an army commander and a member of the nobility of the Ethiopian Empire. He was the father of the "uncrowned" Emperor Lij Iyasu, and the grandfather of Empress Menen, wife of Emperor Haile Selassie. He changed his name to Mikael upon converting to Christianity .

21 de nov. de 2017 · Negus (King) Mikael of Wollo, is relative of Queen Worqitu of Wollo and father of the uncrowned Emperor Iyasu V, with only one exception during the reign of Emperor Yohannes IV. He was always a loyal ally and friend to Emperor Menelik II, since the time when Menelik was a young King of Shewa.

He played a crucial role at the battle of Adwa which was fought to defend Ethiopia from foreign colonial invasion. Thus this paper tries to examine the contrinbtion of Ras Mikael during the battle of Adwa.
